Everyone’s favorite up-and-coming indie alternative pop band is back with their third single ‘Cool With It’. Making waves from all over the Southern New Jersey and Philadelphia area, Her Side of the Bed is back with another haunting single that hits in all the areas of rage and anger, and we’re here for it.
It’s been just over a week since ‘Cool With It’ was released on September 25th, and it’s a true earworm. Beginning on August 5th, Her Side of the Bed revealed their third single set to release via a teaser video. If there’s one thing that you should absolutely know about Her Side of the Bed, it’s that you can always trust their marketing and promotional tactics to be unique. Themed videos around the song released rapidly in anticipation for ‘Cool With It’, with a mini tour announced in support for the single.
‘Cool With It’ is nothing short of haunting. With heavy bass lines and dramatic chords to fully immerse the listener into the emotions in this song, singer Madeline Reddy paints a perfect picture of what it truly is like to feel stabbed in the back by someone you thought you loved. This ties in with the single cover as well, a nice touch in creating a thorough visual for the listener. The lyrics convey a deep sense of loneliness, what it’s like to have someone you love leaving you lonely. Additionally, the topic of internal conflicts can also be observed throughout the song, when you know that you’re being betrayed and hurt yet become exhausted from the constant go-around. Heard you’ve been out with her every night // Try to keep it cool, not to start a new fight // I’ve learned to keep my suspicions pretty quiet, been through this with you too many times.
The chorus for ‘Cool With It’ emphasizes on the feeling of anger and frustration within a relationship, when you know something’s happening behind your back and when your words are twisted for the other person to save face in a situation where they’re ultimately in the wrong. Tell everyone that I'm cool with it, twisting my words for your benefit // You sealed the deal while you’re locking lips // oh, it makes me sick, communicate just that, taking rage and turning it into the soundtrack for when all you want to do is break dishes. And maybe you do with ‘Cool With It’ playing in the background, we don’t judge.
